Biography
Cristina Cruz Dias, (Araçariguama, São Paulo, Brazil, 1979). Architect and Visual Artist living and working in Frederikshavn, Denmark. After graduated in Architecture and Urbanism from University Anhembi Morumbi/São Paulo, Brazil in 2018, she moved to Denmark and started her production with document-drawings and paintings, a way of recording her influences and affective memory. The paintings selected reproduce some works from this trajectory, works that reflect her own experience in the transition between the two countries.
The artist's work is marked by the choice of landscapes and everyday life, in an abstract and figurative style, inspired by nature and daily life.
Her new experiences, far away from her country, encourage to look to the new: the perception of her geographical condition in a foreign land, representing things, emotion or experience, proposing other meanings through lines, shapes and colours.
Artist Statement
“My inspiration comes from many places:
I use architectural and urban language references as a visual stimulus in my creative processes. If in the architecture I perceives spaces and potentialities, is in the painting and in the graphic expression that I translate my perception through lines and shapes, close what I consider part of me and part of my history".
"When I draw the first sketches I can see clearly the manifestation of something that would be, a synthesis of everything that I could live and feel.
An unexpected drive of the poetics that inhabit and provoke me daily.
I would say that art is my own language".
